Speaking of questions, Red's "speech" at the Carlisle banquet will primarily be a Q&A session regarding Merkurs and the Merkur program in general. Some of the questions include:
1) What would the 1990 Merkur XR4Ti have looked like?
Want to find out the answers to the questions above or ask your question
in-person? You'll need to be at the dinner banquet at the Hotel Carlisle
Saturday night. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door and must be
pre-purchased. The cut-off date is May 26th, so the time to act is NOW!

6 February 2006. The
Merkur Club of America would like to congratulate Valerie Delligatti on being
our 200th member. Valerie writes: My Merkur XR4ti was my first car. It was given to me by my uncle so I could get my drivers license. At first it was just a car. Then after I had owned the XR4ti for a year, I came to better appreciate the car and did more research on it. It then transformed into MY car, and I was hooked. I wanted to modify it badly. The exhaust was falling off and the automatic transmission did not fully satisfy my desires for a car that was quick and enjoyable to drive. In my search for parts to mod it, I met Jeff Herson of Merkur Parts Midwest. He has everything a Merkur owner would ever need. Through him I met Jim Wichert, who is the Midwest's ace Merkur mechanic. With their help I got new 3" exhaust and did a T5 transmission swap. They are two great guys that helped keep my car running and my obsession going. In fact, I love Merkurs so much, I bought a second one recently. It feels great to be part of the MCA and I look forward to meeting many fellow Merkur owners at Carlisle 2006. Once
again, congratulations Valerie, and we look forward to meeting you at Carlisle
2006, June 2-4th. |

8 June 2005. It's official!
The big Carlisle 20th anniversary celebration is over and we assembled the largest collection
of Merkurs and their owners ever! 236 was the official count. Thanks
to everyone that made this possible. The time, effort and money involved
was breath-taking. Row after row of XR4Ti and Scorpios exceeded the
allotted show-field space and spilled over into an adjacent area! Continue
celebrating the 20th anniversary at other events planned throughout the year and
be proud of your
Merkur's heritage. Thanks to all the vendors that donated first class Merkur products for the Awards Dinner, but especially our Gold sponsors BAT, Hartwood Automotive, Meguiars, OPMD and Rapido for the first class awards dinner donations and congratulations must go out to Jason Liss who won the Carlisle Events 1986 car give-away and Morgan who won the Hartwood Automotive/MCA give-away car. |
