The 3rd Annual Modern Performance/MCA Dyno Event was held on Saturday July 13, 2002 at Ida Automotive in Morganville, New Jersey.  Bob & Rob Ida’s Dyno has been recently upgraded to accept four wheel drive vehicles.

We had 9 cars including 6 XR’s, 2 SVO’s, and 1 Mitsubishi VR-4. Additionally there were several other Merkur owners/enthusiasts who attended bringing the total attendance to between 20 – 25 people.

Special thanks are in order to Nick Mannarino (www.modernperformanceinc.com), Bob Ida, and Paul Ceppi who hooked-up and unhooked all the cars on the dyno on a 94oF day. Additionally Nick did minor tuning for all cars regardless of type. He efforts almost always rewarded the car owner with increased power.

The temperature ranged between 87o – 99oF during the event with the barometric pressure between 29.19 – 29.49 inches.  We do not know the exact elevation of the dyno facility, but it is close to sea level.

The runs shown on the attached charts and tables are the best run produced, as all cars had a minimum of 3 runs and some as many as 5 runs. All modification data was obtained from the owners. We have tried to include as much information as possible.

Stick shift cars ran from 2,000 RPM to maximum in 4th gear. Automatic shift cars ran in 2nd or 3rd gear from 2,000 rpm to maximum. Each driver decided when to curtail their run(s) thus some tables are more complete than others. Some runs begin above 2,000 RPM because that is where the driver started.

Condition of cars varied greatly from some with obvious tuning or other problems to a few vehicles producing so much smoke that gas masks may be issued to all participants in the future.

All cars were road licensed and driven to and from the event. There were no trailer queens.

There were 2 cars that use the EEC-Tuner, 1 that uses the Perfect Power Tuner and all others use the stock computer. Please enjoy going through the tables and charts and if you have questions please contact Brad Anesi or Dave Weiner.

We look forward to doing another event next year.

Special thanks to Nick Mannarino of Modern Performance for sponsoring the event and providing invaluable technical assistance.

Notes:

* All stick shift DynoJet runs were made in 4th gear starting at 2,000 RPM.
* All automatic runs were made in 2nd or 3rd gear at lowest possible rpm.
* All data in above table was obtained on the "honor system" from car owner/driver
* Some drivers aborted their runs for various reasons and accompanying tables are incomplete
