February 11, 2001
On February 11th, the Merkur Club of America held the first event of the year. The location was Cherry Hill, just outside Philadelphia which was picked as it was central to a high number of members. The long distance award, went to Paul Van Hook and family, who made it down from the Clarks Summit area of Pennsylvania - a drive of over three hours.
The weather was perfect and the turn out good. Nineteen people enjoyed brunch at Ponzio's and a discussion afterwards at Felipe's office in Camden. (Thanks Felipe - it was perfect). There was only one casualty; Alex Chaney's XR suffered a broken clutch on the way to Camden.
It was a wonderful event and encouraging to see so many perfectly turned out cars in the middle of winter. Look for more events in this area in the coming year.
